Thank You

This dropdown is all about gratitude.  A place for Open Door Baltimore to publically acknowledge the many people and organizations that help make us go.  Despite all of the good work being done by nonprofits all across America, the truth of the matter is that most struggle to stay afloat.  One of the keys to our success and longevity (knock on wood) are the terrific volunteers and supporters who have made Open Door Baltimore one of their favorite causes.  We think it’s important to introduce them to you, and to say thanks to them whenever we can.  Whether we say gracias, danke, may-dah-say, asante, or merci beaucoup, it’s all “thank you” to us.

Thank You, Mr. Chairman

As we begin our 7th year on January 1, 2012, we want to say “Thank You” to our Board Chairman, Dan Crow, who has provided visionary leadership for Open Door Baltimore since our start in 2006.  By our count, 19 people have served on our Board of Directors since our first meeting in January 2006.  Throughout the years . . . through the ups and downs . . . the starts and stops . . . the victories and disappointments . . . it has been Dan’s steady leadership in the board room and beyond that has enabled Open Door Baltimore to stretch and grow into the strong organization it is today.  A busy Howard County pastor at The Church at Covenant Park in Ellicott City, Dan has a huge heart for the urban poor and the young adults we serve.  Prior to coming to Maryland, Dan served 15 years as the senior pastor at an inner city church in Pittsburgh — he grew up a Johnny Unitas fan in Vicksburg, Mississippi, so becoming a diehard Ravens fan was an easy transition for Dan.  As a Mississippi pastor in his younger days, Dan paid the price in the early 1980′s (lost his job) for attempting to make his segregated church a place where whites and blacks could worship together.  All of these experiences, plus so many more, helped prepare Dan to be the outstanding board chairman that he is today.  On behalf of the entire Open Door Baltimore family, thank you, Dan, for being our leader.  01/01/12
